Custom Metal Shop with Oversized Awning — Chappell Hill, TX
This custom 60x40x14 metal shop in Chappell Hill, Texas was built to combine clean curb appeal with serious functionality. Finished in Burnished Slate siding with black trim and a matching black roof, this building has a sharp modern look that fits perfectly alongside the customer’s home while still delivering the durability expected from a full weld-up steel structure.
Designed with a steep 5/12 roof pitch, this building stands out from the typical low-slope shop design and gives the structure a much more residential, custom appearance while also helping with water runoff and long-term durability.
One of the standout features on this build is the massive 30x40 covered awning. Supported by heavy steel columns and finished with a 2’ skirt, the covered area creates an incredible outdoor workspace with plenty of room for equipment, trailers, vehicles, or entertaining guests out of the weather.
The enclosed shop features three 12x12 roll-up doors for easy access along with a walk door for everyday convenience. Inside, the building was fully insulated with 3” vinyl-backed R13 insulation in both the roof and walls to help reduce heat and condensation during the Texas summers. The roof is finished in durable 26 gauge black R-panel sheets, while the walls feature matching 26 gauge Burnished Slate panels for a sleek, low-maintenance finish.
The concrete foundation was built to match the quality of the structure itself. This project includes a reinforced 90x40 slab with perimeter beams, cross beams, rebar reinforcement throughout, and heavy plastic underlay — giving the customer a strong foundation designed for long-term performance.
